On average, the Make-A-Wish Foundation grants more than 16,000 wishes each year in the United States alone. While many Make-A-Wish kids dream of grand adventures, like going to Disneyland, meeting a favorite celebrity, or becoming a princess or superhero for the day, Horacio’s wish was simple yet powerful: reliable internet to do what brings him joy every day, playing video games.
When we learned about Horacio’s wish through Make-A-Wish Colorado, we were honored to help make it happen. Our team arrived at the family’s home and were welcomed with excitement and warm smiles. We didn’t just bring our fiber internet service to Horacio’s home. Our team arrived with extra cheer, delivering gift cards, goodies, and delicious local cupcakes from Sugar Beet Treats!
A few bilingual members of our team were present and were able to break down language barriers by communicating directly with Horacio’s family in their native language to explain the installation process and help ensure they felt comfortable and informed at every step. Being able to bridge that language gap made the experience even more meaningful.
While our technicians worked on the installation, our team spent time talking with Horacio’s mom, Juana. She shared some of the challenges their family has faced and how difficult their journey has been. Through it all, she spoke with incredible strength and resilience. What stood out most was hearing how much it meant to see her son receive his wish. For her family, this wasn’t just about getting internet service. It was about seeing Horacio experience a sense of normalcy. Watching her son smile and celebrate alongside his siblings was a moment that meant everything.
At ALLO, we often talk about building connections, and this experience served as a reminder that the most powerful connections are human ones. Behind every service installation is a story, and occasionally, we’re fortunate enough to be part of one that has a lasting impact on everyone involved.
